LESS-THAN-FULL-TIME (LTFT) RESOURCES
If you wish to work LTFT, then a 60% or an 80% working pattern is usually supported by the school.
You will need to give a minimum of 3 months notice, but ideally longer where possible.
If you have already been allocated a placement in the current or upcoming rotation, then this change may also need to be agreed with the rota maker at the trust if this rota has already been written/published.
Application is via an MS Office Forms and will require support of your educational supervisor and TPD.
If you are new to the training programme and haven’t yet started, you just need to inform your TPD.
The same form is used to change your LTFT percentage or return to full time working.
Locum Work for LTFT doctors in training
LTFT trainees can do locum shifts but it is expected that this will be in the department where they are working and have educational supervision. Trainees must follow the Good Medical Practice standards. The expectation is that 1-2 locum shifts per month may be undertaken. If it is more than this then this needs discussion with Dr Helen Goodyear (Associate Dean for LTFT Training) to discuss working at a higher percentage of full time. Trainees are encouraged to discuss any issues regarding doing locums they are uncertain about with Dr Goodyear ( h.goodyear@nhs.net ).
